SubBudget Assigned Practitioner / OrgNodes
Subbudget Ownership Modes
This article explains how subbudgets work in The BOS, what changes when assigned
ownership mode is enabled, and how to request a backfill of existing subbudgets.
Normal Mode
In normal mode, subbudget ownership is based on appointment and invoice history.
This means a subbudget can appear under any practitioner or org node that has
historically been associated with appointments or invoicing on that case. For
some clinics this is fine, because it reflects historical activity. For others,
it can make the subbudget report harder to use because one subbudget may appear
across multiple practitioners or locations over time.
Assigned Ownership Mode
Assigned ownership mode changes subbudget ownership from history-based to
assignment-based.
When this mode is enabled:
- each subbudget can be assigned to a specific practitioner
- each subbudget can be assigned to a specific org node
- practitioner filters use the assigned practitioner
- org node filters use the assigned org node
This is useful for clinics that want each subbudget to belong to a clear owner,
rather than being grouped by everyone who has ever worked on that case.
How To Enable It
Assigned ownership mode is enabled at the tenant level in The BOS.
If your clinic wants to use this mode:
- open your tenant settings in The BOS
- turn on the assigned subbudget ownership setting
- review your subbudget assignments after the setting is enabled
If you are unsure where to find this setting, contact BOS Support.
Existing Subbudgets Backfill
Turning the feature on does not automatically assign ownership to old
subbudgets.
If you want your existing subbudgets backfilled using historical category-aware
appointment and invoice data, please contact BOS Support and ask us to run the
subbudget ownership backfill task for your tenant.
