Duplicate Customers in Stripe

The BOS doesn't allow you to merge two clients from the same data source, they must be merged in the datasource itself. For example: merge the patients inside Nookal, or merge clients in hubspot, then BOS will pick up the changes.

Unfortunately, Stripe doesn't allow us to do this. If you are manually setting up a subscription in Stripe Dashboard for a customer that previously had a membership then you should set up the new membership for the existing customer. If this wasn't done then you will end up with two stripe patients with the same name and details.

To fix this:

  1. Find both patients in The BOS and open the client details page. Confirm that it's really the same person (IE: name and email addresses match).
  2. Figure out which one is the Nookal patient (should have appointments associated) and which one is a 'just duplicate stripe customer' that only has invoices and a single membership.
  3. Email BOS Support asking for a Stripe Merge and provide the IDs of both clients (the numbers at the end of the client info page address) EG: "Please merge duplicate stripe customer #1234 into nookal patient #69420"
  4. Support team will merge clients using StripePatientMergeand respond once it's done
